Decisions, decisions
We’re getting near to the christmas decisions. Luckily, the biggest one is not an issue this year as we emigrated, so we are having christmas together and not having to get in the car. We might hate being on our own, (though I doubt it) and of course, we’ll miss Dad and the usual suspects, but no inlaw huffiness! Huzzah!
But what do we do about the presents? Knitworthy SIL is sorted, knitworthy nephew is pretty much there (a toy should follow too, but I’m good there). Dad, brothers 2 & 3 - no issue. The problem is the elder brother, his wife and evil sproglets. (well, only one is evil, if I’m fair). Do we go through the charade of sending presents to a family when, even though I love my brother, I won’t expose my kids to his 12 year old eldest? I didn’t send them birthday presents (nor they us), just cards - so why do I feel miserly about not sending them christmas presents? Especially when it’s usually an insert-recipient’s-name-here type on both sides and do they really need another ‘fun’ gumball machine type gift…
And don’t even get me started on the inlaws, though I suspect Amazon will come to the rescue there. Sigh. When did gift giving get so politic?
